VA pilots evaluation model to determine potential exposure to environmental hazards while serving

On November 11, 2021, the VA announced a presumptive decision model pilot program to determine potential exposure to environmental hazards.  The pilot program will run from November 15, 2021 to April 1, 2022.

Following on the heels of recent expansions to presumptive conditions for exposure to Agent Orange as well as the addition of presumptive conditions for exposure to particulate matter, the intent of the comprehensive pilot program is to explore possible relationships between in-service environmental hazards and medical conditions experienced by veterans.  One goal of this ambitious program is to lower the burden of proof for veterans affected by exposures.  Another is to speed up the delivery of health care and benefits needed by such veterans.

Veterans who believe they have a medical condition due to exposure to an environmental hazard during military service are encouraged to file a claim for service-connected disability benefits.

Avard Law Offices is available to assist veterans with such claims.
